Abstract
This IDC Perspective discusses the recentralizing of IT's data role as a part of employee experience (EX) transformation. Employee experience is transforming organizations beyond the HR remit. EX's expanded footprint is breaking the fourth wall of operational data silos to link them for context in decision modeling and stakeholder alignment. IT is rising within RACI models as either co-accountability partners with HR in the 'A' or responsible execution stakeholders with HR and finance in the 'R.' AI is catalyzing IT's involvement in the data and decision models that advanced digital employee resource personalization across the enterprise employee life cycle. As companies restructure their tech stacks to build AI and personalization into EX transformation, they must strategize for more methodical stakeholder restructuring that increases HR's decision equity and centralizes around IT as a major digital stakeholder.
"EX is breaking the boundaries of the HR remit to tie in and lead to more centralized business performance modeling," says Zachary Chertok, research manager, Employee Experience at IDC. "As EX transformation's roots grow deeper and more mature, the IT remit expands to accommodate the digital and AI transformation needed to fuel and facilitate it. Companies should strategize and manage their stakeholder group transformation and pivot just as much as they aim to steward changes to their data and technology stacks."
