Abstract

This IDC study delves into the DR capability model and its dimensions, providing a road map for organizations to follow as they advance from basic, ad hoc recovery practices to a fully integrated, proactive, and adaptive DR strategy.

As Gerald Johnston, adjunct research advisor for IDC’s IT Executive Programs (IEP), aptly stated, “A poor IT response to a single event can be a career-ending proposition. To mitigate this risk, CIOs and their leadership teams must commit to steadily enhancing their DR capabilities across four key dimensions: people, process, technology, and vision.” Phil Goodwin, research vice president, Infrastructure Software Platforms, Worldwide Infrastructure Research, IDC, adds, “Organizational leaders must not approach DR as a unique activity. It is an essential component of organizational resilience.”
