Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights results from the following two questions posed to 1,500 respondents and firms with 1,000+ employees across 6 countries, and several major industries, as part of IDC's 2023 Worldwide Managed Cloud View Survey: Road map of transformation to private cloud Infrastructure: Which of the following would be your preferred means of migrating to a private cloud (IaaS) infrastructure (dedicated to your company/organization) as part of a managed cloud service? and Location of private clouds for hybrid cloud use: Please select the primary location that your company/organization utilizes today for your private clouds when used as part of a hybrid cloud (combining private and public clouds) and what you expect the primary location to be in the next two to three years. For those not currently utilizing private clouds but considering utilizing private clouds with public clouds to create hybrid clouds, please select where you would want your private cloud located currently and in the next two to three years. This IDC Survey Spotlight then assesses the impact of enterprise priorities with private clouds on managed cloud services and managed service providers (SPs) and highlights how managed SPs need to emphasize modernization strategies for sweating existing assets, develop a compelling value proposition for standardized private clouds, and leverage a shift in locus of delivery for technology selection.
